Just a family drive outside, when I saw a sign for puppy adoption, and it reminded me of when my family first got Leo. Leo wasn’t from an adoption center though; he was from a place called “The Puppy Barn”.
He was a mix breed, half labradoodle, and half poodle; his coat glistened in the sunlight including his little curls. I even remember his birthday: November 16.One word to describe Leo’s size? Huge! Not huge as in weight, but Leo’s almost as tall as my 5’ 11” brother! But, he was also a heavy dog with a kind, big, but hyper heart.
My most fond memory of Leo was in Pennsylvania. Summer became harsh, and my brother and I got very bored at home. Seeing that Leo started to pant from the heat, I handed him an ice cube. You could tell that he was super grateful because he just digged right in. By going too quick, the ice got caught on to his paw. Confused of how it got caught, he started to attempt to shake it off. Well…. it didn’t work at all. One way it came off you ask? It melted and let go if his paw. Finally Leo got his chance to cool down with the ice cube that confused him so much. After my brother and I finished laughing HARD, we changed into our swimsuits. Our pool laid in our back yard and we go there all the time. But this event became special because it was Leo’s first time in the pool. Christian, my big brother and I jumped in because we already became accustomed to the whole “pool-thing” since we got the house. Apparently, Leo was not. In and out, in and then back out! Seeing him… he did that for about ONE MILLION TIMES (and counting)! Maybe the water got too cold for him? Nope! Water felt fine. What made him not stay in for long? To this day I still ponder about that, wondering why… but he definitely did enjoy his days of swimming! Fur-dripping, tongue lolling, back and forth he goes! Also he has that “I-am-totally-enjoying-this….This-is-so-fun!” face he gives us. Still in Pennsylvania, Leo stays with our grandma, and I heard that he still holds the record of being the biggest “TROUBLE MAKER!”
